56-year-old Daniel Taub is one of Britain’s most influential diplomats. Taub was born, and bred in the UK but is an Israeli. He schooled in the UK and graduated from the Oxford University and got an additional degree from the London University College. In 1989, Taub relocated to his parent’s Native land, Israel. He served in the Israeli Defense Force as a medic then soon aster as a reserve officer in the force’s division of International Law. While still in Israel, he worked as a presidential speechwriter during the reign of President Chaim Herzog and eventually, in 1991 was hired in the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
Daniel Taub as the UK-Israeli ambassador
In the year 2011, Daniel Taub was appointed the ambassador to the UK St. James Court. As the ambassador, Daniel Taub was keen on promoting technological advancement.
He came up with the idea of the Bizcamp startup competition and incorporated Google in making it happen. The Competition brought together technological innovators and entrepreneurs from all over the Israel and UK who showcased their ideas.
Daniel Taub was also dedicated to increasing the rate of trade between the United Kingdom and the State of Israel. As he retired from office in 2013, it was reported that the bilateral trade between these two countries had increased to 8 billion dollars.
In March 2013, he was appointed the first ambassador of Israel to the International Maritime Organization. He served for two years before retiring and moving back to Israel.
Taub as a diplomat
Taub is an international law expert with knowledge of laws of war and counter-terrorism affairs. He was for many years a legal advisor to the ministry of foreign affairs and later during the New York and Geneva missions by Israel.
He served the state of Israel as a negotiator during the peace process between Palestine and Israel. He was on the negotiation team during the Israel and Syria and many other multilateral affairs.
Daniel Taub has authored several articles for The Times, The Guardian, and The Huffington Post. He published a book on diplomacy and the bible called Parasha Diplomatic.
